چکیده

Abstract The present study investigates the behavior of solid cellular structures in polylactic acid (PLA) achieved by FDM technology (fusion deposition modelling). geometries are permanently deformed compressive stress and then subjected to shape recovery through application a thermal stimulus. submitted medium–high medium–low compression stresses, evaluating mechanical properties absorption energy as number cycles varies. shows that ability absorb is related density model, well degree damage observed, which increases with increasing load cycles. strongest geometry lozenge grid, most reliable. It no keeps its capability almost constant. increase grid leads an improvement both strength energy, lower incidence microcracks itself due repeated These results open up broad spectrum applications custom-designed field damping.

Shape Recovery of Viscoelastic Deployable Structures

The paper investigates the shape recovery behavior of a simple beam and a tape spring made of LDPE under prescribed deformation history at room temperature. The linear viscoelastic material properties of LDPE were measured via creep tests. An analysis of a LDPE beam under four-point bending with an imposed history of vertical deflection and reaction force was performed. A theoretical solution w...

heat recovery from geothermal energy by employing refrigerants power cycles

some geothermal reservoirs have temperatures below boiling point and therefore natural steam can not be produced for power generation. refrigerant power cycles may be then employed to recover low temperature heat. in this article study is made of the power cycles of six different relligrants and most suitable refrigerants for this purpose are suggested

Investigation of Quasi-Static Indentation Response of Inkjet Printed Sandwich Structures under Various Indenter Geometries

The objective of this investigation was to determine the quasi-static indentation response and failure mode in three-dimensional (3D) printed trapezoidal core structures, and to characterize the energy absorbed by the structures. In this work, the trapezoidal sandwich structure was designed in the following two ways. Firstly, the trapezoidal core along with its facesheet was 3D printed as a sin...

Acoustics of Sandwich Structures

USC’s work on sandwich structure acoustics began in 1998 and has evolved in close collaboration with the M.C. Gill Corporation, a leading manufacturer of sandwich panels for aircraft interiors. The work has had both an applied mission and an academic focus, and presents an example of university-industry collaboration can produce mutual benefit while advancing scientific understanding. Here, we ...

Spatial Control of Functional Response in 4D-Printed Active Metallic Structures

We demonstrate a method to achieve local control of 3-dimensional thermal history in a metallic alloy, which resulted in designed spatial variations in its functional response. A nickel-titanium shape memory alloy part was created with multiple shape-recovery stages activated at different temperatures using the selective laser melting technique. The multi-stage transformation originates from di...
